I’ve been selling homes for 40 years. I’ve closed over 200 million in sales, and I was a home builder for 7 of those years. I’m originally from Chicago, attended the University of Iowa (SAE fraternity), with a stint in Atlanta. I have been active in all areas of San Diego County with a focus on houses and condos in La Jolla California, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Metro (Mission Hills, Mission Valley, Hillcrest, University Heights, Normal Heights, North Park, South Park, Golden Hill, Kensington), Downtown, Ocean Beach, Point Loma, Clairemont, and University City.
Of all the skills developed over those years, using my expertise to find just the right home for my client has been key. For some unkown reason (since I don’t wind up with door prizes, win the lottery, or catch any fish) I’m very lucky in finding the perfect house. Additionally, when it comes to helping sellers, I have many years experience as a builder, a Realtor, and a showhome marketer in getting homes ready to show wonderfully and sell quickly for a high price.
On a personal note, my daughter, Julie, a long time Piatti (La Jolla) employee, lives in Clairemont and my son (French Chef) Scott, wife Stacy (super French Chef), and Grandaughter, Kaya, are in Houston at Chez Nous Restaurant. Singing jazz harmonies with The Sounds Divine Jazz Vocal Ensemble is my passion. I love musicals, my ex is one of my best friends, have sung with the Sentimental Journey Orchestra (Sinatra stuff), toured nationally with the South City Voices jazz vocal quartet, recorded on Capital Records with The Hawkeyes, a girl and 3 guys during college, and performed in a bunch of musicals.

I represent Buyers and Sellers in La Jolla California, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Metro (Mission Hills, Hillcrest, Bankers Hill, North Park and South Park, University Heights, Normal Heights, Kensington, and Talmadge), Downtown San Diego, Ocean Beach, University City, and Clairemont.
I’m a member of La Jollas’ REBA (Real Estate Broker Association), Metro and Downtown Realtor Groups, the The MBREA (Mission Bay – Mission Beach and Pacific Beach – Real Estate Agents) group, and PLOBRA (Point Loma and Ocean Beach). With these groups I am previewing properties constantly and our agent interaction keeps me aware of the nuances of each market. For buyers, because of my market knowledge, I diligently keep an eye out for the specific property you’re looking for and I’m privy to pocket listings (not in the MLS) and new listings before the entire market is aware of them.
For Sellers, this same agent interaction provides a wealth of information crucial to having an effective price opinion.
I know a lot about houses, I used to design and build them. I’m analytical, – more interested in what’s under the hood and the floor plan than I am the colors. That experience is useful at inspections, or with a Buyer who wants to re-model – interfacing with an architect and construction people – looking out for my Client. Consequently, I’m comfortable with the old homes in Mission Hills, or the fancy updating of a La Jolla beachfront condo. This background also comes in handy working with a Seller, getting their home up to speed to stage them.
I work with out-of-town, sophisticated, Buyers looking all over San Diego, but mainly in upscale areas, i.e. , La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, downtown condos, Mission Hills, Hillcrest, Point Loma, and Ocean Beach . These discriminating Buyers have confidence in me, I’m their age and I’ve been doing this a long time. They instinctively trust me. Our association makes them confident in their decisions, they feel like they’re in good hands, we enjoy each others company, they expect and get prompt, candid answers, but, mostly I’m there, always there. Many agents are off the grid a lot, off traveling, doing things with their kids, or distracted by all manor of other responsibilities, and so are the agents they’ve asked to cover for them. NOT ME. I’m never off the grid, I’m here minding the store, all the time.
I answer the phone, respond immediately to email and text requests, and get questions answered right away. I’m resourceful, I’ve accumulated resources over ½ a lifetime, and my company, ReMax Coastal Properties La Jolla and Pacific Beach, is totally service oriented.
